Build Your Campaign!

Unlike most 24XX games, this game specifies a campaign structure rather than a particular setting. The setting is slotted into the structure, leaving room for a lot of variety and for different “vibes” while continuing to adhere to the structure of an epic Grail Quest.

While the structure is the same, you don't need to be knights! You could be teenagers, dragons, or even secret police. A wide variety of possible setups are supported by the structure.

Here's a few examples:

1. The characters are teenagers from the small US town of Fairview in 1974, which is sick; It is the most boring place on Earth for a teenager to be. They seek David Bowie to heal the land by playing a concert in Fairview, but it will require Cool to achieve.

2. The characters are dragons from the remote Dragon Isles, which is sick; Dragons are losing their ability to breathe fire. They seek the mystical source of all flame, the Fyre to heal the land by rekindling their internal furnaces, but it will require Humility to achieve.

3. The characters are secret police from an unnamed futuristic dystopia, which is sick; the State can no longer control its citizens. They seek the elusive dissident known as Red Jenny to heal the land by (unknown to them) overthrowing the State, but it will require Humanity to achieve.

As you can see, it's template-based!

Player characters are "best of breed" for whatever type of things they are, whether they're knights, secret police, or teenagers. (Yes, that means if they're teenagers, they're very good at being teenagers, for better or worse...)
