This is a science fiction system-agnostic tabletop adventure, shading from science fiction into science fantasy and horror.

Impossible Discovery

Something amazing has been discovered in the Helix Nebula. Inside one of its cometary knots, there is something that's been codenamed "The Titan."

The Titan is a humanoid corpse floating in space.

The fact that it's mostly human-shaped is the first thing that's odd.

The second thing that's odd is the fact that its length / height (head to toe) is 100,000 AU, or 9.3 trillion miles.

On the back of its right hand is a set of structures that look like an abandoned city, about the size of New York City.

The player characters are going to investigate the city, and the Titan itself.

2.9 Million Possibilities

To make this adventure re-usable, most facts about the situation are determined randomly. There are 2,985,984 possible combinations for the scenario.

I'm sure at least some (if not all) of the possibilities will suit your play group!

The primary image, sourced from NASA, is a multi-spectrum composite of the Helix Nebula, including its central star. Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/SAO; Ultraviolet: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SSC; Optical: NASA/STScI(M. Meixner)/ESA/NRAO(T.A. Rector); Infrared: NASA/JPL-Caltech/K. Su & NASA/WISE

The spaceman with a raygun image is an old, public-domain pulp image.

Followup adventure to this one!

These are some really useful and flavourful tables! I really like the concept of a giant Titan corpse

Thank you! Yeah, the concept of a "dead god," in any form, has always fascinated me. A normal corpse is full of insect, fungal, and bacterial life... What would thrive on something much higher in the chain of being after its death?

Oh, and if those tables aren't enough, there's even more in the sequel, the Burnt Spiral.  😅
